WHAT IS COLLAGE?
Collage is a technique that involves taking unrelated images and media — whether that be through textures, colours, style, etc. — and reconfiguring them to create a new image.
COLLAGES CAN BE MADE USING ANY MATERIALS
Photographs, magazine clippings, paint, pencil crayon, tape, plaster — the list is endless! The images you find or make can even be scanned onto a computer to complete your collage digitally. A collage can even be entirely digital!
COLLAGES CAN BE AS NEAT OR MESSY AS YOU WANT
Scissors, exacto-knives, rulers, tape, pens, and markers can be used to get precise, clean lines.
Materials can also be ripped by hand, pencil crayons and pastels can be scribbled and paper can be crumpled to get uneven, freeform edges.
