Summer Break examines the idea of form over function wherein the two do not exist separately, rather heavily influence each other. This collage explores a summer break from my own childhood, in which the “form” that was the act of play, enabled the “function'' of personal growth. I chose to represent this concept through collage to further express the, oftentimes, personal and specific quality that results from placing form before function. Collages are at the will of the materials rather than the end product much like how we are in our ever-progressing growth.
